CTET Eligibility is laid down by CBSE for both Paper 1 and Paper 2. The basic requirement is to have passed senior secondary or graduation with minimum 50% aggregate marks and relevant teacher training program.
- Candidates must check and ensure that they fulfill CTET Eligibility Criteria before applying for the exam.
- There are two papers of CTET (Paper 1 and Paper 2) having different eligibility criteria.
- Paper 1 is taken for becoming a teacher of classes I to V while Paper II is for becoming a teacher of classes VI to VIII. Check CTET 2020 Exam Pattern
- A person who intends to be a teacher for both levels (classes I to VIII) needs to appear in both the papers.
- Candidates scoring 60% or more marks in the exam is considered as TET pass.
CTET Eligibility: Age Limit
- The applicant must be a citizen of India to be eligible for CTET.
- There is no age restriction, however, the candidate must be minimum 17 years of age.
CTET Eligibility: Educational Qualification Requirements
Candidates have to fulfill different eligibility conditions to be a Primary or Elementary Teacher. CTET Eligibility requirements are stated below for Paper 1 and Paper 2:
CTET Eligibility for Paper I
- Candidates must have passed senior secondary or equivalent with at least 50% marks.
- Also, he/she must have passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education
OR
- Applicants must have passed senior secondary or equivalent with at least 45% marks.
- He/she must have passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education, in accordance with NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.
OR
- Aspirants must have passed senior secondary or equivalent with at least 50% marks.
- They must also pass or appear in the final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
OR
- Candidates must have passed senior secondary or equivalent with at least 50% marks.
- Along with it, they must have a pass certificate of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
OR
- A graduation degree in the relevant discipline must be acquired.
- A certificate of two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
CTET Eligibility for Paper II
- A graduate degree in the relevant discipline must be obtained.
- Also, the candidate must have passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
OR
- A bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks must be acquired.
- Aspirants must have completed 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
OR
- Graduation with at least 45% marks must be done in relevant discipline.
- He/she must also complete a year in Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.
OR
- Candidates must pass Senior Secondary or equivalent with at least 50% marks
- Also, they must have either passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
OR
- Candidates must have passed senior secondary or equivalent) with at least 50% marks.
- Along with it, they must have passed or should be appearing in the final year of 4- year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
OR
- Aspirants must have done graduation with at least 50% marks.
- Also, they should have passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)*.
CTET Eligibility: Other Parameters
The organizing body will look at some other factors too for the purpose of recruitment of teachers. These qualifications will not be essential requirements but will give applicants a better chance to secure a job in a good school. They are listed below:APPLY NOWCHECK ELIGIBILITYGET UPDATES
- A degree or diploma in teacher education must be recognized by NCTE.
- For a Diploma or Degree in Special Education, the programs recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) will be considered.
- Candidates with D.ed (Special Education) will have to undergo an NCTE recognized 6-month special program in elementary education.
CTET Eligibility for Reserved Category
Seats will not be reserved for individuals belonging to the reserved category (SC/ ST/ OBC and PwD candidates). However, they are granted a relaxation of 5% marks in the qualifying exam of the minimum educational requirement.
Other than that, no reservation policy is adapted as far as job placement is concerned as per CBSE’s rules.
